Eye of the soul
And we have snow. It's not much, but the air smells of cold. You can feel the Christmas spirit. I can't wait to bake gingerbread cookies and decorate our tiny Xmas tree.Great books give you a feeling that you miss all day, until you finally get to crawl back inside those pages again.

I was raised among books, making invisible friends in pages that seemed cast from the dust whose smell I carry on my hands to this day.
I know every book of mine by its smell, and I have but to put my nose between the pages to be reminded of all sorts of things.

Isn’t it odd how much fatter a book gets when you’ve read it several times? As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells, and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower, both strange and familiar.
